Sammy  O'Neal
Services for Sammy Lane O'Neal, 103, of Ada are at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Pat Kilby will officiate. A private burial will follow.
Mrs. O'Neal passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019, at an assisted living center in Norman.
She was born Oct. 23, 1915, near Aspermont, Texas, to Caleb and Francis Stanford Cobb. She graduated from high school in three years at the age of 15. She moved to this area in 1952 from Midland, Texas.
She married Sherwood O'Neal in 1931 at Lovington, New Mexico. He preceded her in death June 13, 1985, in Ada.
Mrs. O'Neal and her husband owned several ranches and the livestock auction in Ada.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Ada, where she taught Sunday school classes. She also played the organ at Morris Memorial Baptist Church and at the Baptist Village.
Mrs. O'Neal enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching "The Wheel of Fortune" and reading.
Survivors include her children, Jim O'Neal, Madill, Peggy Taylor Clark, Ada, and Steve O'Neal and wife, JoAnn, Mustang; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Judy Howard; two brothers, Doyle Cobb and Dalton Cobb Sr.; a sister, LouElla Rutherford; two sons-in-law, Don Taylor and Bill Clark; and a daughter-in-law, Dee O'Neal.
Bearers will be Sherwood Taylor, David Taylor, Brad O'Neal, Mike Patterson, Jason O'Neal, Josh O'Neal, Matt O'Neal and Sam O'Neal.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Parkinson's Foundation of Oklahoma, 720 W. Wilshire Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73116, or the Down's Syndrome Foundation, 521 W. Wilshire Blvd., Ste. 130, Oklahoma City, OK 73116.
