Roy E. Watson of Stratford, Oklahoma was born on June 20, 1940 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Clyde and Martha Jane "Mattie" (Rakestraw) Watson. He passed away in Tulsa, Oklahoma September 20, 2022 with his family by his side. He spent his youth in Wynnewood, Oklahoma and on the family farm south of Stratford, Oklahoma. He graduated from Stratford High School with the class of 1958/59. He married his high school sweetheart Judy Lambert on July 25, 1959 in Booker, Texas. He continued his education attending East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Education. He began his career at Asher Public Schools in 1966 where he taught, and served as principal, and basketball coach, retiring in 1995. He moved to the family farm south of Stratford where he and Judy raised cattle and farmed the land. He was a member of the Stratford Church of Christ.


Roy was passionate about many things. He loved his Judy, his daughters, and grandchildren. He loved coaching girl's basketball and was very well known for his success. He loved farming, working the land, and raising cattle. Roy loved OU football. But most importantly, he loved his Lord and Savior.


Roy was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Mattie, brother Clyde Watson, Jr. and his wife Judy in 2021.


Roy is survived by two daughters: Kim Powell and husband Scott of Owasso, Oklahoma, Gail Stearns and husband Bob of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and three grandchildren: Courtney Brown, Madison Reed and husband Hayden, and Kennedy Carpenter.


Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM Monday September 26, at the Stratford Church of Christ. Officiating: Bill Jones.
