Ada, OK - Paul Franklin Thompson, 89, died January 2, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Ada, OK. He was born October 15, 1936, at Wynnewood, OK. He was the son of Robert "Fat" and Elsie Thompson.
Paul graduated from Wynnewood Hight School Class of 1954. After graduation, he attended Oklahoma A&M (OSU) majoring in Agri Business. In 1959, he married the love of his life Lola Beatrice Rush. He met this beautiful lady through his younger sister Lawanda June. She and Lola were best friends.
Paul and Lola spent most of their married life in Ada. Paul's career in Ada was Service Pump and Supply. Lola spent her career as a fifth-grade teacher at Byng Elementary. Paul's life and loves were his family and helping young people especially through 4-H and FFA. His favorite event was the livestock show and favorite animal was a black angus cow. His support continued through his grandson Adam. Adam's favorite 4-H event showing horses became Papa's favorite too. Adam's horses also became Papa's favorite place to have a morning cup of coffee along side the horses' bucket of grain.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a sister, Lawanda June Steffes. Survivors in addition to his wife Lola are his daughter, Cynthia Lynne Roach and her husband, John of Ada, grandson, Adam Roach and wife Amanda of Edmond, and great grandson, Simon of Edmond, one sister, Delories Hensley and husband Roger of Edmond, one brother, Edward Thompson and wife Skip of Sulphur and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2026, at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel; Rev. Toby Willoughby will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 11th at Criswell Funeral Home.
Bearers will be John Roach, Adam Roach, Dennis Kymes, Craig Thompson, Steve Timmons, and Randy Bryant.
