Opal Evelyn Weller
Opal Evelyn (Morrison) Weller passed away Nov. 7, 2019, at the age of 101 years in Coalgate.
She was born Jan. 6, 1918, in Jackson to her parents, Jessie Edgar and Julie Texas (Jackson) Morrison.
Opal attended school at Burrow Valley and Stonewall High School. She owned and operated a grocery store.
Opal married Deborn Ervin Weller on Jan. 23, 1934, at Clarita. He preceded her in death.
Opal was a Pentecostal Holiness. Opal enjoyed sewing, quilting, going to ball games and cooking for family. Opal's greatest joy in life was spending time with her loved ones at family gatherings.
She is survived by four daughters, Jerldean Romines and husband, D.E., of Tupelo, Dessa Fortner and husband, Paul, of Tupelo, Nell Tomlinson and husband, Don, of Claremore and Regina Flowers and husband, Johnny, of Tupelo; two sons, Don Weller and wife, Joy Nell, of Tupelo, and Wendell Weller of Cleveland; one daughter-in-law, Jan Weller of Grand Prairie; 12 granddaughters, Sherry Haynes, Darla Pearce, Donna McCollum, Christy Bills, Tammi Stephens, Michelle Parsons, Shelly Pickle, Ginger Cornell, Elizabeth Weller, Becky Beach, Sheila Fennell and Cindy Sanders; 13 grandsons, David Romines, Jerry Lynn Romines, Roger Romines, Ricky Romines, Billy Stephens, Darryl Weller, Clay Weller, Scott Weller, Jeff Weller, Michael Tomlinson, Steven Flowers, Kenny Fortner and Alan Fortner; and a host of nieces, nephews and dearly loved other family and friends.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Osie Jane Stephens; one son, Joe Weller; one daughter-in-law, Phyllis Weller; one son-in-law, Bill Stephens; three brothers, Clint Morrison, Elmo Morrison and Gerald Morrison; one baby brother, Edward Morrison; one baby sister, Bernice Morrison; and one granddaughter, Tracy Romines.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Tupelo, with Bro. Craig Cochran officiating. Interment will follow at Byrd's Prairie Cemetery.
Family visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Brown's Funeral Service in Coalgate.
