Lou Ann Pokorny Obituary
Tulsa, OK - Lou Ann Pokorny, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 84.
Born on May 27, 1941, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, Lou Ann was the daughter of James Blair and Ethel May (Hollis) Pybas. She pursued her education with dedication, attending Pauls Valley High School and Oklahoma State University before earning a degree in Business Education from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma.
It was at East Central University that Lou Ann met the love of her life, Charles Pokorny. They shared a beautiful marriage for almost 46 years before his passing in 2008. Together, they made their homes in Ada and Tulsa, building a life filled with love and shared experiences.
Lou Ann dedicated many years to her daughters and to her professional life, serving as a legal secretary at various law firms in Ada, and later as an administrative assistant at East Central University. Her meticulous nature and organizational skills made her a valued colleague.
She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Ada and later became an active member of both Asbury United Methodist Church and Faith United Methodist Church in Tulsa.
In her retirement, Lou Ann found immense joy in her family. She was a devoted grandmother, frequently attending her grandchildren's activities and sporting events, and was always eager for a fun shopping trip. Lou Ann spent time gardening, relaxing at the lake, and exploring the serene mountains of Colorado. She especially enjoyed a memorable family trip to Hawaii.
Lou Ann was preceded in death by her loving parents, J.B. and Ethel Pybas; her devoted husband, Charles; and her two sisters, Mona Long and Yvonne Duncan. She is survived by her two daughters: Debra Yalch and her husband Joe, along with their children Garrett and Carson, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Brenda Pannell and her husband Ryan, with their children Braden, Gavin, and Cameron, all of Branson, Missouri, and Caitlin Bell and her husband Braydon, of Springfield, Missouri. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other cherished family members, and friends.
A private family interment service for Lou Ann will take place at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada, Oklahoma, at a future date.
