Linda Louise Howard (Mimi) Obituary

Norman, Oklahoma - On Friday morning, May 23, 2025, as dawn began to peep through the sky, Linda Howard left this world to the sound of sweet bird song to begin an eternity of adventure.

A celebration of her life will be held on June 19th, from 1 PM to 3PM, at The Venue on Main, 118 West Main Street, Ada, Oklahoma.

She was born on November 18, 1938, in Ada, Oklahoma to Mildred Louise Criswell, and William (Daddy B) Masterson.

In her early years, Linda had the joy of living with her "Aunt Minnie" and Albert "Uncle A" Chamberlain along with her mother, Millie, on a farm in Arkansas during WWII. As a young girl, her vocal talents were recognized. Linda was selected to be the one to collect the eggs because she sang to the hens, so they wouldn't peck her. She was very proud of the "Victory Garden" they grew as a family and later relocated back home to Ada, Oklahoma in 1946 when her Mother married Charles Richard Drummond II. Millie and Chuck lovingly raised their daughter Linda who would soon take on the role of big sister or "Nina" to Rick Drummond III and Trudi (Drummond) Freeland.

Linda was a Willard Dragon, attended Ada Junior High, graduated from Ada High School in 1956, and Christian College for Women, in 1958. During these years, Linda was an active member of the Glee Club, and Choir and also performed in musicals and piano recitals.

After college, Linda relocated to Oklahoma City and worked in a lab at an Oklahoma City hospital. Her interest in medical chemistry connected her with Jack Howard during one of his medical school rotations in OKC. They married in December of 1960, and in 1964 after graduating from Medical School, Jack joined the United States Air Force as a flight surgeon and was transferred to Misawa, Japan in 1965. Linda would later join him with their first child Jeffry, and in December 1966 the family added a daughter Kathryn. The family returned to the United States and was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, and the family grew by one more with the birth of a daughter Rebecca. Linda and her family were relocated to Tucson Arizona for several years until making a final move to Ada, Oklahoma where Linda would begin one of the most memorable parts of her life as a rancher raising cattle, and horses, managing Sandy Creek Stables, and most importantly taking on the role of "Mimi".

Linda "Mimi" was a loving and involved grandmother to Kristopher Lowry, Mary Kathryn (Lowry) Wofford, Kayson and Chapman Howard, and great-grandmother to Thea Wofford.
