Visallia, California - Lena Carolyn Brumley - Carolyn was born in Ada, Oklahoma on September 27, 1933 to Frank and Mellie Johnson. She attended Kindergarten through Highschool in Ada, Oklahoma. Carolyn married Weldon (Buddy) Brumley on September 2, 1951. They had three daughters, Jayna, Beth, and Paula. Carolyn worked at Ada Candy Company and Pacific Bell before she became a teacher and taught kindergarten and 3rd grade, then became a substitute teacher and finished with her degree at the age of 50 from Fresno Pacific University. She served in every church she attended. Sunday school teacher, women's ministries, and she was a missionary to several countries like Mexico, Philippines, England, Austria, and she smuggled Bibles into China even! She loved the Lord, read her Bible daily and she loved sports! Her favorite teams were Oklahoma Sooners, Oklahoma Thunders, and the New York Yankees. Carolyn lived in so many different places in her life, from Oklahoma to Texas and last moving to California where she lived in Strathmore, Woodlake, Exeter, then to Visalia where she resided for seven years at Walnut Park. She was an ambassador for Walnut Park and loved greeting new people. She loved all the staff at Walnut Park and all her friends there.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 70 years, Weldon (Bud) Brumley, her daughter, Paula Evans who just passed away June of 2025, her parents, Frank and Mellie Johnson, and brother, Gene Johnson.
Carolyn is survived by Her daughters, Jayna Eager (Jim), and Beth Eggleston-Quinonez (Jerry). Her two sisters, Pat Barnett and Dorthy Thompson, both of Oklahoma. Carolyn was blessed with 7 grandchildren, Jason Harper, Tia Weemes, Talia Watkins, Tim and Ethan Eggleston, Franklin Evans, and Emily Romance. She has 10 great grandchildren, Claytin Harper, Cambria Sandoval, Willow, Poppy, and Fox Weemes, Blake and Parker Watkins, Wyatt Eggleston, William and Rowan Romance.
We are deeply grateful to the entire staff at Ruth Woods Open Arms Hospice House for their wonderful care and compassion towards our mother.
