Laura Bowles Obituary

Longtime Konawa resident Laura Ann (Taber) Bowles, 73, passed away from this life Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016, at St. Anthony Hospital in Shawnee.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, at Vamoosa Baptist Church. Butch Bradley and Mitch Williams officiated. Burial followed at Vamoosa Cemetery. Casket bearers were Tim Coffey, David Roe, Garde Bowles, Kort Bowles, Leslie Henderson, Jim Tatum, Darrell Mackey, James Bryant and Willie Cloud.

Laura was born Oct. 8, 1943, in Escondido, California, to Abbie Bernell (Harbason) and Jack Taber. She graduated high school in Brock, Texas. She married Zeb Bowles Sept. 25, 1960, in Brock. She was a co-owner and operator of a sandwich shop in Konawa. Laura was a cat lover who also loved her grandchildren very much, and she loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Zeb Bowles of the home; two sons, Jack F. Bowles and his wife, Kim, of Avery, Texas, and Chris Bowles and his wife, Audra, of Maud; a step-father, Gerald Carpenter; a sister, Linda Griffin of Memphis, Tennessee; and five grandchildren, Garde, Taylor, Kort, Shelby and Garrett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Taber and Abbie Bernell Taber-Carpenter; and two infant sisters.
