John Phillip Wood passes away on January 13, 2023, at the age of 85 years in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born September 12, 1937, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to his parents William Jr and Katherine (Nesbitt) Wood.

Phillip married Brenda Bunch on April 14, 1983, in Coalgate, Oklahoma. He was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Coalgate, Oklahoma. He served on the first Coal County Livestock Board and Coal County Fair Board. Phillip enjoyed going to auctions and watching grandchildren and great-grandchildren play ball and at Livestock Shows. His most cherished times were spent with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years: Brenda of the home, 7 children: Marc Wood of Tulsa, Melodi Burns and Danny of Pittsburg, Mary Suezann Allen and Doug of Atoka, Larry Jaboc McKeen of Coalgate, Rebecca Sue Atkinson and Jamie of Big Springs, Texas, John Ross Wood and Tori of Coalgate, Megan Katherine Wood of Coalgate: Grandchildren, Jennifer, Sheena, Faith, Misti and Gary, Zack and Jessica, Mandy and Carl, Jerrard, Phillip, David, Laura, Samantha, Brycen, Ansley, Harper, Cody, Brooklyn, Chase, Kayleigh, Charlee, Jayce, Riggin and Ryder, Great Grandchildren: Nathanial, Andrew, Ethan, Niles, Daphne, Lillith, Cindy, Chloe, Maggie, Cooper, Jet, Chassen, Asher, Jaden, Marley, Jagger, Ayden, River, Hunter, Tyler, Peyton, Wyatt, Brayden, Serenity, Wyatt, Jaxon, Hayden, Jayden, Ruger, Chaedyn and one on the way, 1 great great grandchild on the way, brother: William Don Wood and Debby of Coalgate, Cousin/Sister: Jahree Vaughn of Coalgate, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of dearly loved friends.

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons: William Henry Wood and Phillip Don Wood, and 2 grandsons: Ransom Smithart-Wood and Riley Cottrell.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church in Coalgate with Pastor Lyle Shipley officiating. Interment was in the Wood Family Cemetery.

Phillip was very passionate about serving others so donations can be made in his honor to God's Pantry at the Methodist Church.
