John Alfred Edwards passed away March 21, 2018, at the age of 88 years in Ada.
He was born March 19, 1930, in Coalgate to John and Laura Ann (Daily) Edwards.
John married Betty Jo Keener on April 30, 1952, in Odessa, Texas. She preceded him in death Sept. 3, 2014.
John was a superintendent on an oil rig. He was a member of the 32nd Masonic Lodge No. 955 of Odessa, Texas. He enjoyed horse racing, raising horses and cattle.
He is survived by one daughter, Connie Williams and husband, Buck, of Bandon, Oregon; 2 granddaughters, Amanda Frederick and husband, Jerry, of Allen and Brittanie Gordon and fiance, Benjamin Lewis, of Davis; four great-grandchildren, Kierra Frederick, Bayley Gordon, Brookelyn Gordon, Cooper Frederick and Braylee Lewis; and a host of several nieces, nephews, longtime friends and family.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo (Keener) Edwards; his parents, John and Laura Ann (Daily) Edwards; and one sister, Mildred Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Brown's Funeral Chapel, Coalgate, with Pastor David Boggs officiating. Interment will follow at Coalgate Cemetery.
