Joe Gawen Landrum Obituary

Ada, OK - Services for Joe Landrum,78, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Trinity Baptist Church in Ada, with Bud Ross officiating.

Joe passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on October 28, 2025.

He was born July 24, 1947, in Oklahoma City to Billy Joe and Gwyndolyn (Compton) Landrum. A proud graduate of Pauls Valley High School, Joe went on to attend East Central University, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

During college, Joe met the love of his life, Brenda Dodson, and began working at Black's Men's and Boy's Wear in downtown Ada. He later became the owner and operator, proudly continuing the tradition for 54 years, where he became known as a pillar of fashion and a fixture on Main Street.

Joe also gave back to his community, serving for many years on the Board of Directors for Citizen's Bank of Ada.

An avid golfer, fisherman, and hunter, Joe cherished his time at Oak Hills Golf and Country Club and the lifelong friendships made there.

The love of his life was Brenda Sue Landrum (Dodson), to whom he was married for nearly 55 years. The joy of his life were his two sons, Tre' and Tanner Landrum, and later, his greatest pride—his grandchildren. "Poppa" was always eager to be at their sporting events, share his love of fishing, or simply watch them play outside his den's window or on the beach.

Joe loved his family, his friends, and his community deeply.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Sue Landrum; son Tre' Landrum and wife Ruth, and their children Finley and Samuel; son Tanner Landrum and wife Leslie, and their children Beck and Baylor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Joe and Gwyndolyn Landrum.

Honorary bearers will be Jon and Barbie Moon, Letha Wood, Chris and Loretta Feiler, Shane and Scottie Coker, Charlie and Jacquie Vest, Jamie Hart, and Dikran Tourian.

As a devoted fan and lifelong supporter of Ada Cougar Athletics, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Ada Cougar Baseball or Ada Cougar Football, c/o Christie Jennings, 1400 Stadium Drive, Ada, OK 74820.

Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 30th and from 8:00 a.m. until noon on Friday, October 31st. The family will have a private burial prior to the 3:00 p.m. memorial service at Trinity Baptist Church followed by a reception at Oak Hills Golf and Country Club.
