Fort Gibson, OK - Glenda Louise DeShazo, 79, of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, died on June 21, 2026. She was born on December 1, 1946, in Marlow, Oklahoma, to Leonard and Amy (Mills) Haught.
Glenda graduated from Marlow High School in 1965. She met Steve in Marlow, Oklahoma, while attending Fifth Street Baptist Church, and they married on December 30, 1965.
Glenda and Steve lived in several Oklahoma communities as Steve was called to pastor different churches. In 1968, they settled in Ada, Oklahoma, where they raised their three sons. As a Pastor's wife she took on many roles of; children's teacher, nursery worker, Bible School coordinator and teacher, piano player, church secretary, treasurer, and many other roles.
Glenda was a natural leader, but had a servant's heart. She began her career at Horne & Co. CPA Firm in Ada, Oklahoma, where she served as office manager. She worked there for more than 40 years before retiring in 2020. Glenda personally assisted the firm partners during her years. She also used her experience to mentor many newly college graduate Staff Accountants to help them get started on the right foot.
As a professional businesswoman, Glenda was involved on many boards and organizations. Most notably, she served at all levels of leadership for the Business and Professional Women's Club. She was the local chapter President and went on to serve as the President at the state level. She was active at the national level in advocating for recognition of women in business and other professions.
Glenda also served on the Salvation Army Board, Ada Recycling Board, and volunteered for many local civic organizations and events. As a Breast Cancer Survivor of over 20 years, Glenda volunteered her time and resources to bring awareness and supporting other patients. She had a servant's heart like no other.
Glenda was preceded in death by her father and mother, brothers, O'Neil Barker, Charlie Barker, and David Haught; and grandson Kevin DeShazo.
She is survived by her husband, Steve DeShazo of Fort Gibson, OK; son, Mark DeShazo and wife Elsa of Upland, CA; grandsons, Miles DeShazo and Chris DeShazo and wife Heather of Bozeman, MT; grandson, Christian DeShazo and granddaughter, Sierra DeShazo; granddaughter, Hannah Yates and husband Bill; and great-grandsons, Reed & Hudsyn; son, Brian DeShazo and wife Ginger of Fort Gibson, OK; granddaughter, Kurstie Michela and husband Joseph; great-grandsons, J.T. & Silas; great-granddaughter, Wren; granddaughter, Karlie Pittman-DeShazo and husband Justin; granddaughter, Liberty DeShazo; grandson, Kane DeShazo; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Viewing was held 9AM-5PM, Thursday, June 25, 2026, and Friday, June 26, 2026, at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson.
Glenda's celebration of life will be held 10AM, Saturday, June 27, 2026, at First Baptist Church Fort Gibson with her husband, Steve and son, Brian officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Citizens Cemetery.
