Longtime Ada resident Billy James "Bill" Roper, 75, passed from this life Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Ada Care Center. He was born Aug. 21, 1941, in Ada Edna Lois (Hoosier) Roper and James Jefferice Roper.

Bill graduated from Latta High School in 1959. He went on to work as a property assessor for the Pontotoc County Assessor's Office. He was also of the Christian faith.

Survivors include three daughters, Elisha Hays of Seminole, Robin Roberson and her husband, Scott, of Ada and Venetia Phillippe and her husband, Levi, of Bristow; one sister, Betty Rigsby of Ada; five grandchildren, Buck Roberson, Dakota Roberson, Tanner Hays, Matthew Hays and Morgan Phillippe; and a host of other family and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and by one son-in-law, Tim Hays, who died Oct. 17, 2010.
