Ada, OK - Ardith Anges Sumpter passed away Wednesday, April 1st, 2026 at her home in Ada, Oklahoma at the age of 85. A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Southwest Church of Christ in Ada, Oklahoma with Pastor Brian Lewis officiating.


Ardith was born in St. Louis, Oklahoma to Evert Efton Patterson and Dorothy Lorraine (Irwin) Patterson. Ardith graduated from Wewoka High School. She earned her Associate's degree from Oklahoma Christian College. She married Wade Delano Sumpter on January 29, 1962 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Ardith was an accounting clerk for PEC for many years. She work as a school secretary for several years in Arkansas and Oklahoma. Ardith with her daughter Angi co-authored and published a children's book titled Unique Monique the White Squirrel. She loved cooking, having parties, traveling and people.


Ardith is preceded in death by her parents, Evert and Dorothy Patterson and brother George Evert Patterson. She is survived by her husband Wade Delano Sumpter of the home, children; Wade Sumpter Jr. and wife Cheryl of Ada, Angela Sumpter DeAngelo and husband Robert of Frisco, TX, grandchildren; Aaron Sumpter, Amanda Sumpter Walker and husband Donny, Svetlana Jolee DeAngelo, great grandchildren; Olive Sumpter and Daphne Sumpter Walker. Ardith is survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
