William LeRoy "Bill" West, 91, passed away Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, in Holdenville.
Bill was the son of William and Amelda (Cross) West, born Dec. 5, 1925, in East Orange, New Jersey, where he was brought up and attended schools. He joined the U.S. Navy and served during World War II, from 1943 until 1946. He married Betty Lou McCoin Aug. 11, 1946, in Oklahoma City. They lived for seven years in New Jersey, then returned to Oklahoma in 1953, where Bill worked five years in oilfield supply, then put in 28 years working as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Ada, from 1958 until he retired in 1986. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Ada.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Amelda West; and his daughter, Candace Louise "Candy" West.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Betty Lou McCoin West of the home; his son, Richard William "Bill" West; and grandson John William West, both of Lufkin, Texas; his sister, Beverly Ryan of Sarasota Florida; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Holdenville Cemetery Chapel. Interment will follow at the Holdenville Cemetery.
