Vickie Jean (Willingham) Jones was born March 21, 1946, at the Florence Nightingale Hospital in Dallas to Noel Penn Willingham and Mary Ray (Jernigan) Willingham. Jean, as she was known, passed away Sept. 15, 2016, in a Tulsa hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jean graduated from Sunset High School in Oak Cliff, Texas in 1964. She married John McMahon after high school and moved to Bethany, where he was employed by American Fidelity Insurance Co. They moved their family to Ada in 1972.
Jean was employed as a medical office manager and bookkeeper in Ada for many years. She was active in the League of Women Voters and held several state offices. Jean's favorite pastime was counted cross stitch and over the years, several of her creations were published in the British magazine Gold Cross Stitch. She never lost her interest in politics and stayed well-informed on the state and national political scene. Other interests included NASCAR racing, listening to jazz and Frank Sinatra, reading and attending local festivals.
Jean married Donald G. Jones April 24, 2004, in Eufaula, and over the next several years they resided in McAlester, Yukon and Oklahoma City. During their 12 years of marriage, Jean attended many Masonic functions with her husband in McAlester, Tulsa, Guthrie and Washington D.C. and made many new friends that remember her fondly.
At the time of her death, Jean and Donald were living in Owasso to be near her son and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Donald G. Jones; her son, Shawn McMahon and his wife, Dawn, of Owasso; her daughter, Alicia McMahon Scarbrough of Hawaii; and her grandsons, William McMahon, Jordan McMahon, Jubal Scarbrough and Cole Scarbrough.
Donations can be made in her honor to the RiteCare Childrens Clinic at McAlester's Scottish Rite Center in McAlester.
