Mary's Story

Text size

Mary Sue Peercy, loving wife, mother and grandmother died Nov. 28, 2016, in her home. Her husband, Mickey, was by her side. Mary Sue was born Feb. 24, 1949, to Haskell and Mary (Maddux) Richardson of Madill. She married Mickey Peercy Oct. 11, 1968, and they made their home in Tishomingo.
Mary Sue was a 1967 honors graduate of Madill High School. She attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University and began a long banking career in Marshall County. She began as a teller and eventually became the vice president of operations at BancFirst in Madill. She enjoyed her career and worked with people she loved.
Her greatest love was her family. She adored her husband and truly had fun being his wife for 48 years. They set a terrific example for their son, Michael Peercy, and his wife, Katy. She was also a supportive mom, who always encouraged Michael to do what made him happy. He loved music, and she never missed a performance, even when he was in college. She was proud of his educational and professional accomplishments, but she was most proud of the fact that he is a devoted husband and father. She treated Katy like her own child, not an in-law, and thought it was funny to say that she had two kids (and they just happened to be married to each other). Mary Sue was shy and quiet, but she had a great sense of humor. Her joy bubbled up most when she spent time with her granddaughters.
Sarah Marguerite (Maggie) Peercy, 19, and Marianna Maddux Peercy, 7, were the light of her life. She was Maggie's role model, favorite friend and constant companion. There is no love like Nana and Maggie love. Mary Sue also loved Maggie's closest friends like her own and cherished their shopping trips and sleepovers. Mary Sue loved Marianna's independent spirit and delighted in every moment they spent together. Marianna always knew she could count on her Nana for a hug, a bowl of chicken noodle soup, and hours of playing whatever she wanted to play.
Mary Sue's extended family was also special to her. Her sister-in-law, Gayle Teel, was one of her best friends. She and her husband, Dwain, have been Mickey and Mary Sue's neighbors, not just their relatives, for 46 years. Mary Sue loved Gayle and Dwain's children and grandchildren very much. Kristi (Teel) Lee and her husband, Shawn, live in Sulphur with their children, Kara and Colton. Scott Teel and his wife, Sandy, live in Moore with their children, Brent and Jaxson.
Family night will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Watts Chapel. Her family will lead the service. Graveside service will follow at Tishomingo Cemetery. Pallbearers are Michael Peercy, Scott Teel, Shawn Lee, Billy Duke, J.J. Means, Kevin Feuerborn, Joe Davidson and Michael Henthorn.
