Services for Mary Ellen "Mutt" Cole, 90, of Ada are at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Rick Garrett will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Ms. Cole passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, at Brookdale Assisted Living Center. She was born Oct. 25, 1925, in Coal County to John and Mary Frazier Cole. She attended Pleasant Hill grade school and graduated from Clarita High School in 1943.
Ms. Cole was the office personnel supervisor at J.C. Penneys, retiring after 42 years of service. She started working for J.C. Penneys in downtown Ada in 1949. Ms. Cole was of the Methodist faith. She was a member of the Ada charter chapter, Gamma Sigma, of Beta Sigma Phi, which was formed in 1951.
Survivors include two nieces, Virgie Garrett and Mary Johnson and her husband, Roger; a nephew, Douglas Denson and his wife, Emma Lou; two great-nieces, Marie Garrett and her husband, Bob Carbaugh, and Joyce West and her husband, Dan; her great-nephews, Rick Garrett and his wife, Sherri, Steve Denson, Kent Denson and his wife, Cari, John Denson and his wife, Hillary, and Jason Tiger; 18 great-great-nieces and nephews; and a best friend of many years, Sara Bartcher.
Bearers will be her nephews.
