Services for Luther C. Brown, 84, of Ada are at 10 a.m. Friday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery.
Mr. Brown died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, at a local nursing home. He was born March 27, 1933, in Ada to George W. and Arzela Velma Rambo Brown. He graduated from Byng High School.
He married his high school sweetheart, Wanda L. Graham, May 28, 1951. Mr. Brown worked in the oilfield most of his adult life as a roughneck, driller, fishing tool operator, Atlas Tool manager and well owner. He was affiliated with B & B Tool Co. and L. C. Brown Co.
He became a faithful Christian in 1961 in Moab, Utah. His family always moved with him in every job. After many years residing in Fairview, Oklahoma, and Perryton, Texas, he returned to the Ada area in 1970. He served as a deacon of the Byng Assembly of God Church for many years; was a member of the Gideons, IOOF and Kiwanis; and was initiated as a Mason.
Luther was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, George, Nobel, David and Bobby; sisters Aliene, Birdie and Hannah; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Campbell.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Wanda; a sister, Doris Griffin; a daughter, June Murphy and husband, Lanny; a son, David Brown and wife, Susie; a son, Larry Brown and wife, Eileen. He leaves behind seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be John Murphy, Jim Brown, Darren Evans, Matt Feezel, Jeff Krebbs and Rusty Hudson.
In honor of his motto in his retirement years, we ask all of his friends to do a good deed for someone.
