Karen Sue Sliger's Story
Karen "Sue" Laxton Sliger went to be with the Lord and her parents Nov. 25, 2016, in Corsicana, Texas. She was born Jan. 20, 1942, in California to Lorene Massey and Calvin Laxton.
She married Elton Ray Sliger in November 1960 in Oklahoma. She retired from the Lewisville Independent School District after 20 years as a bookkeeper and moved to their farm in Barry, Texas. Sue enjoyed her retirement by line dancing with the "MeMaw's Misfits," traveling on the bus with her Senior Circle friends, being a member of the Red Hat Society, a lifetime member of the Red Angus Association and Retired Teachers Association, volunteering at Corsicana Welcome Center, working at polling stations as a volunteer and taking her many trips to Oklahoma.
She is survived by her husband, Elton Sliger; two sons, Randy Sliger and Patti of Sanger, Texas, and Rickey Sliger and Cindi of Blooming Grove, Texas; two sisters, Tina Wood of Warr Acres and Janet Gilpatrick-Jones of Bethel Acres; grandchildren, Bodey Sliger of Dallas, Harlee Sliger of Galveston, Texas, and T.C. Lawhon and wife Angie of Barry, Texas; great-grandchildren, Chance McQueen, Jackson Lawhon and Maeli Lawhon, all of Barry, Texas; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Nancy Phillips; and her best friend, Nancy McAnally.
