Services for Franklin D. James Jr., 57, of Oklahoma City are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Reaper Baptist Church in Ada. The Revs. LaRue Drinkwater Jr. and Famous Cochran will officiate. Burial will follow at Athens Cemetery.
Frank passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, at his home. He was born Jan. 11, 1960, in Ada to Franklin D. Sr. and Virginia James. He was the third child born to this union. Frank was baptized at an early age and became a member of Reaper Baptist Church. He attended Byng school.
Frank moved to Oklahoma City where he worked various jobs until his health failed him. He became a member of Redeemed Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. L.R. Drinkwater Sr.
Frank was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Dennis James; and a grandson, K.C. Na'Jwan Broome.
Frank is survived by his mother, Virginia James of Oklahoma City; his children, Cherionique MoneyPenny of Austin, Texas, Chermaine Thomas of Shanghai, China, Jaz'Quetin, Linda Broome and Michael, all of Oklahoma City and Matt Kemp of Langston; his sisters, Catherine, Theresa and Karen James and RosaLinda Clayton-James, all of Oklahoma City; Rene James of Madill; Dovietta Johnson (Derek) of Warner Robins, Georgia; Lee Etta James-Perry of Norman; Jolanda Peters of Coppell, Texas, and her brothers, Bryant James, Donald James, Rodney Peters and Kenneth Peters, all of Oklahoma City; Stephen James of Ponca City; and a host of family and friends.
