Dorothy Ellingson of Pensacola, Florida, went to be with her Lord Friday, Jan. 12, 2017.
Dorothy was a long time resident of Santa Cruz, California, and she worked for several years at the Wrigley Gum factory there in Santa Cruz. In her retirement years, she and her husband Leroy moved to Gun Barrel City, Texas, where she lived until the death of her husband. She then moved to Ada and lived there for about 17 years. In 2014, she moved to Pensacola, Florida, to live with her daughter Ruth.
Dorothy loved to travel. She greatly enjoyed riding in the 18-wheeler trucks with her sons, Robert and Richard, crisscrossing the United States many times over. She also made several trips by air to visit relatives and friends. In 2016 alone, she flew to Oregon, California and Oklahoma.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy; and her son, Richard.
She is survived by her daughters, Dorothy, Ruth and June; and by her son, Robert.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Smith-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Don Sayre and David Gray will officiate. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Mabank, Texas, with Byron Jones officiating.
