Memorial services for Doris A. Simmons, 90, of Stonewall are at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Southwest Church of Christ. David Dirrim will officiate. A committal service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Macedonia Cemetery near Tomball, Texas.
Mrs. Simmons passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at an Ada hospital. She was born Feb. 4, 1927, in Baytown, Texas, to John L. and Janet Stowe.
She married Jacob J. Simmons Aug. 11, 1946. He preceded her in death in September 2000. Mrs. Simmons was a bookkeeper for several industries in Houston and was later a bookkeeper at a doctor's office when they moved to east Texas. She was a member of Southwest Church of Christ in Ada.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Kaiser and her husband, Floyd, of Stonewall; a sister, Janice Thomas of Kerrville, Texas; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a daughter, Patty Brenner.
