Services for Daniel Webster Matlock, 87, of Owasso will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Lula Cemetery.
Mr. Matlock passed away Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, in Richardson, Texas. He was born Feb. 23, 1929, in the Pecan Grove Community near Ada to Roy and Mittie (Hutchings) Matlock. He attended Ada schools and served in the U.S. Army from 1949-1950.
He married Alletta Reed July 8, 1950, in Ada. She preceded him in death Sept. 1, 2000, in Owasso. Mr. Matlock had been employed as a truck driver for Ada Ice Plant, a machinist for General Dynamics in Pomona, California, and a deputy sheriff in both San Dimas, California, and Pope County, Arkansas. One of his passions was carpentry and woodworking, having built additions to the family home in Azusa, California, and two complete homes in Moreland, Arkansas.
Survivors include a brother, Terry Dean Matlock; two sons, Larry Dan and Gary Dean Matlock; his grandchildren, Starla Barker, Erin Henderson, Claire Matlock, Eli Matlock, Hannah Matlock and Amber Ortiz; and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Steven Leroy Matlock; and his sisters, Carmaleta Matlock and Mary Ann Low.
Bearers will be Jerry Cannon, Charles Dortch, Chad Henderson, Eli Matlock, Rickey Ross and Gary Smith. Honorary bearers will be Erin Henderson and Claire Matlock.
The family asks those who wish to make memorials to the charity of their choice in lieu of flowers.
