Graveside services for Charles Don Thompson, 90, of Ada are at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Bethel Cemetery in Byng. His sons, Mickey and Jon Thompson, will officiate.
Mr. Thompson passed away Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born July 31, 1926, in Ada to James Owen and Naomi Jewell Henry Thompson. He attended Byng schools and graduated from Byng High School in 1943. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from East Central University.
He married Mary Lou Loman May 23, 1951. Mr. Thompson was a teacher, coach and principal, retiring after 34 years of service. He taught in Jr. High and High School at Weleetka, Konawa, Waurika and Ardmore. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army during World War 2.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou of the home; two sons, Mickey Thompson and his wife, Kym, of Oklahoma City and Jon Thompson and his wife, Kathy, of Ada; his grandchildren, Matt Thompson of Houston, Lauren Thompson of Oklahoma City, Heath Thompson of Houston, Brooks Thompson of Stillwater, Tasha Wilk of Goldsby, Jacob Fleck of Blanchard, David Thompson of Tulsa and Jennifer Thompson of Tulsa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and a sister.
