Services for William Washington Timmons, 78, of Pontotoc are at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Blue Baptist Church near Connerville. The Rev. Larry Hawkins will officiate. Burial will follow at Pontotoc Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Timmons passed away Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, at his home. He was born Nov. 20, 1939, at Connerville to Elbert and Gratha Edwards Timmons. He graduated from Pontotoc High School.
Mr. Timmons was employed as a brick and rock mason until his retirement. He was a member of Blue Baptist Church and had served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his brothers, Richard Timmons and wife, Jean, Oklahoma City, Andrew Timmons, Pontotoc, Leonard Timmons and wife, Jimmie, Pontotoc, Paul Timmons and wife, Ruby, Fittstown; sisters, Rhonda Russell and husband, Dean, Pontotoc, Genevia Byrd and husband, Jackie, Stonewall, Dennia Burke, Oklahoma City, Sylvia Louise McClain and husband, Paul, Ada; 27 nieces and nephews; 49 great-nieces and great-nephews; and 22 great-great-grandnieces and grand-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Delephia Goza and Betty Hargis; a brother, Gerald Timmons; nephew, Brannon Russell; and great-nephew, Cody Dunigan.
Bearers will be his nephews Mark Goza, Doug Storts, Danny Timmons, Chuck Timmons, Earl Dean Russell, Matthew Timmons and Michael Timmons. Honorary bearers will be David Poe, Steve Bell and his nephews Steve Goza, Bruce Storts, Jay Russell, William Timmons, Jason Timmons, Timothy Timmons and David Timmons.
