Ada resident Velma Eileen Hoover, 95, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, in Ada.
She was born Feb. 15, 1922, in Pender, Nebraska, to William M. Burmeist and Elda Whitaker. She married Henry F. Hoover on Feb. 13, 1954, in Chickasha. He preceded her in death Feb. 22, 1988.
She was a bookkeeper for Buick Auto Deals.
Survivors include a son, Henry F. Hoover Jr. and wife, Carolyn Hatridge Hoover, Ada; a grandson, Ricky Hoover and wife, Shandy, Daisy; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Hoover and Amy Young and husband, David, all of Ada; nine great-grandchildren, Lexi, Aley, Abby, River, Daley, Polka Dot, Paisley, Treyson and Trenton; a brother, Jack Burmeister and wife, Jo, Midwest City; two special nieces, Jeannie Slavin, Arkansas City, Kansas, and Salley Daniels, Dallas; and several nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Larry R. Hoover; three brothers, Bill, Kenneth and Gerald Burmeister; and six sisters, Arthena Clements, Rowena Burmeister, Kathryn Griffin; Irma Jo Daniel; Gene Stringer; and Ann Hooper.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at the Stringtown Baptist Church, with Pastor Joey Lansdale president and a eulogy by Chris Edgar.
Pallbearers are Howell Magby, Kent Hutson, Eddie Isom, Ricky Boston, Robert Powell and Jami Anderson. Honorary pallbearers are JC Gadberry and Loyd Thompson.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Ada Baptist Village for their compassionate care for Eileen for the past four years.
