V.L. passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital after a brief illness.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Rosedale Cemetery, with Sister Omega Carson of Abundant Life Tabernacle officiating.
V.L. was born to Orpheline Raimoland and Vaughn Lee Hall at Le Mesa, Texas, on July 26, 1927.
V.L. married the love of his life, Norma Hollingsworth, at San Diego on July 14, 1945, and the two remained inseparable life partners until her passing Aug. 15, 2015.
They relocated to Ada in December 1967. He worked for many years for San Diego Gas & Electric and eventually retired from Anderson Music Co.
V.L. was an avid sports fan, especially of the New York Yankees and the Oklahoma Sooners.
V.L. was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, serving his country from 1945-1947, and was honorably discharged. He was a member of the Mission Bay Masonic Lodge in San Diego.
He was passionate about his family, and they were passionate about him. He loved each and every family member equally and without reservation. His favorite activities included tending to his vegetable garden, taking his dog for daily walks around Wintersmith Park, which he did faithfully until a week before his passing. V.L. also loved to read and loved the Ada Public Library and all who worked there.
To his family was known as "Papa." His grandchildren and great-grandchildren always looked forward to visiting him and enjoyed hearing of his childhood memories on the farm. He was deeply loved and will be missed enormously.
V.L. is survived by two sons, Michael of Ada and Ralph and wife, Okie, of Ada; grandsons Michael and wife, Crystal, of McKinney, Texas, and Vaughn and wife, Shana, of Shawnee; granddaughters, Christine and husband, Todd, of Temecula, California, and Michelle and husband, Don, of Temecula; sa tep-granddaughter, Jennifer LaRoe of Ada; and great-grandchildren Tripp, Cash, Ryan, James, Sierra and Emily, in addition to nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orpheline and Vaughn Hall; wife, Norma Faye; brothers, O.D. and Jerry; sister, Elaine Payne; and grandson, David Lowell Hall.
