Services for Reba Pauline LaFevers Scribner, formerly of Stonewall, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Ada. Burial will follow at Jesse Cemetery South of Stonewall.
Mrs. Scribner died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, at the OU Medical Facility in Oklahoma City.
She was born July 12, 1935, on the family farm at Bryan Township, Coal County, near Tupelo to Opal Blanche Dame LaFevers and Virgil Lee LaFevers. She was the first of four children born to this union and was a daddy's girl.
Her father's untimely death when she was 12 years old left her and the rest of her family devastated. To make matters worse, all their belongings perished in a fire soon after.
Despite the tragedies, she stepped up, along with her little sister, to help her mother make a home and care for her infant brother. She attended Stonewall Schools and was a homemaker for the majority of her life.
She was of the Protestant Faith and attended the Assembly of God Church when she lived in Stonewall.
She married William Harold "Bill" Scribner in 1972. She made her home in Renton, Washington, where her husband worked for Boeing Aircraft Co. After her husband's retirement, she and her husband relocated to Stonewall, where she spent many wonderful years with her family close by.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Scribner; infant son, Stanley Keith Blevins; daughter, Debra Kay Egger; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil LaFevers; an infant brother, Donald Wayne LaFevers; stepfather T.J. Helms; stepsister, Linda Gail Helms Massey; and stepbrother, Ricky Dale Helms.
Survivors include a grandson, Ross Costa and wife, Sher, Wynnewood; a granddaughter, Kindra Armbruster and husband, Joe, of Oklahoma City; five great-grandchildren, Ross Costa Jr., Chandler Ryan Costa, Rosile Costa, Rosyln Costa and Alden Armbruster; her sister, Wanda Jean LaFevers Palmer Walkup, Ada; and brother, Gary LaFevers, Belton, Texas.
She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and -nephews.
