Nova Jean Dodson was born Nov. 9, 1925, at Nowata to Leonidas Larkin and Juanita (Ball) Farris. She passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2017, at Sulphur at the age of 90 years, 10 months and 28 days.
Nova moved to California as a young girl, where she worked as a waitress at the Spaghetti Kitchen in San Francisco. It was there that she met her soon-to-be husband ,Ralph Dodson.
They were married June 19, 1945, in San Francisco. Ralph preceded her in death Jan. 2, 2016.
Nova had lived in Sulphur since 1946. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters and one brother.
Survivors: four daughters, Reggie Wells and husband, Joe, of Sulphur, Penny Runyan and husband, Clyde, of Mill Creek, Brenda Landrum and husband, Joe, of Ada, and Sharon Dodson of Sulphur; a son, Tommy Dodson, of Sulphur; a sister, Betty Jo Viscia of Napa, California; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Dick Terry officiating, assisted by the Rev. Willard McCartney Jr.
Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
