Mildred's Story

Mildred Lancaster, 89, departed this life Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, in Ada.
She was born Oct. 14, 1927, in Holdenville to Shird Merriman and Lucy Pearl Winkles Merriman. She lived most of her life in Sasakwa. She married Henry Lancaster March 12, 1946, and he preceded her in death March 14, 2000. She was a homemaker and a member of Baptist Church in Vamoosa.
Mildred enjoyed making fried pies, gardening, cooking and raising chickens. She was a good carpenter and even built her own barn.
Preceding Mildred in death are her parents; her husband; a son, Johnny Gene Lancaster; four sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Evelyn Elliott, Vada Norman and Claretta Norman; three brothers, Carl Merriman, Wayne Merriman and Arlene Merriman.
Survivors include children, Judy Waddell of Ada, Danny Lancaster of Sasakwa, Debbie Watters and her husband, Keith, of Sasakwa and Brett Lancaster and his wife, Cindy, of Sasakwa; 12 grandchildren and their spouses, Chad Boyd and his wife, Tammy, of Kingston, Brandon Boyd and his wife, Jan, of Sasakwa, Sunny Anderson of Durant, Jourdan Waddell of Ada, Daniel Lancaster of San Francisco, California, Jared Norman and his wife, Lisa, of Sasakwa, Tanner Watters of Sasakwa, Jennifer Blackburn and her husband, Eugene, of Sasakwa, Lisa Franklin and her husband, Rick, of Norman, Brittney Lancaster of Prague, Blake Lancaster of Sasakwa and Dylan Lancaster of Sasakwa; her brothers, Dean Merriman of California, and Gene Merriman of Las Vegas; her sister, Elva Phillips of Seminole; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Chad Boyd, Brandon Boyd, Jourdan Waddell, Jared Norman, Tanner Watters, Blake Lancaster and Dylan Lancaster.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Roger Lancaster, Chuck Lancaster and Eric Lancaster.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Vamoosa Baptist Church. Pastor Kevin Duck and Edward George will officiate. Burial will follow at Lone Dove Cemetery.
