Martin "Marty" James Scott, 61, of Ada passed away Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Ada.
Martin was born Dec. 29, 1955, in San Diego to James and Joan (Taylor) Scott. He married his high school sweetheart, Karen Hoskin, in 1972 in San Diego, where they started their family. They moved their family to Riverside, California, in 1990 and then to Ada in 2007. He was a proud and dedicated employee of Construction Junction for the last 2 years.
Martin was known for being a fierce protector. He always defended those who could not defend themselves. He enjoyed having his family over for holidays, parties and get-togethers throughout the year, where he would entertain everyone with his stories. He was an avid fisherman and traveled annually to fish for tuna in the Pacific Ocean.
Martin is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Karen Scott; 11 children, Jimmy, Jill, Martin, Brian, Christi, Melissa, Michelle, Andy, Lindsey, Ashley and Billy; 16 grandchildren, Amanda, Christina, Jessica, Aiden, Bradley, Kaelyn, Trinity, Ariel, Karen, Luke, Kamryn, Kenzie, Kenady, Kayden, Khloe and Lilly; four great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Zoey, Matthew and Mason; seven sons- and daughters-in-law, Ana, Tom, Lissa, Jacob, Kyra, Sheldon and Matt; and his sister, Mary.
A memorial to honor Martin's life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oakman Community Church, County Road 1505 and Homer Francis Road in Ada. Glenn Rowden and Sheldon Bond will officiate. A reception will follow the ceremony at the Scott family home.
