Lois Nadine McCoy, 91 of Hurst, Texas, passed away Monday, Aug. 1, 2017. She was born in Ada to Leonard and Myrtle Archer. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Smith-Phillips Funeral Home Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel.
The eldest of seven children, she left school in the eighth-grade to help around the house. In 1968, she went back to school, obtained her GED and finished first in her class on the nursing test to become a licensed vocational nurse. She retired after 15 years of nursing at All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.
She loved to travel with Good Sam's of Ada and across the Southwest, square dancing. She took great pleasure in making quilts for all of her kids and grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching westerns on TV and her favorite sitcom, "MASH."
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Lewis, Lindell and Larry Archer; and her sister, Lillian Gamill.
She is survived by a brother, Lawrence Archer; a sister, Letha Jean Pisano; two sons, Terry McCoy and Steve McCoy and his wife, Debbie; her daughter, Glenda Stricker and her husband, Rusty; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
