Lewis Wayne Woodell


Lewis Wayne Woodell, 73, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at the Sulphur Veterans Center in Sulphur.
Lewis was the son of Robert Woodell Sr. and Freda (Lee) Woodell, born July 19, 1945, in Clarita. He was brought up in the communities of Clarita, Coalgate and Allen, and attended schools in Clarita and Allen. He joined the U.S. Navy at an early age, young enough that his parents' signatures were required for him to enlist. He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1966.
He married Joyce Lively Dec. 16, 1966, and they were blessed with two sons, Donnie and Eric. The family made their home in the Atwood area, where Lewis worked in the oilfield and also for the City of Allen until he retired in 2007.
Lewis loved to play Dominoes and watch John Wayne movies. He was very active in his community as a member of the Allen VFW, the Allen Masonic Lodge, and the Allen Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Atwood Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Freda Woodell; and his siblings, Bill Lee, Emily Cunningham, Mary Ruth Burkes, Robert 'Bob' Woodell, Chester Woodell and J. L. Woodell.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Joyce Lively of Atwood; two sons, Donnie Woodell (Chris Sellars) of Claremore and Eric Woodell (Angela) of Ada; five grandchildren, Blayke Logan Woodell (Natasha) of Coalgate, Donley Woodell of Ada, Rheagan Woodell (Cody) Boatright of Ardmore, Austin Woodell of Pauls Valley and Quinton Woodell of Ada; two great-grandsons, Grayson and Jet; and numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Atwood Church of Christ, 106 South 3rd, in Atwood. Keith Warren will officiate.
Pallbearers are Blayke Woodell, Donley Woodell, Lawayne Frederick, Justin Boolin, Jeremy Boolin and Wayne Beck. Honorary pallbearers are Keith Woodell, Nub Rinehart, Harry Joe Ellis and Glen Harrington.
Lewis will be laid to rest with military honors at Atwood Cemetery.
