John Lee Higdon died May 17, 2017, in Ada at the age of 48 years, one month and 24 days. Gravesite services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Gerty Cemetery in Gerty, entrusted to the care of Wadley's Funeral Service. Online condolences may be made at www.wadleysfuneralservice.com.
John was born March 23, 1969, in Ada to John Cecil and Freda (Holland) Higdon. He was raised and attended school in Ada.
John worked for many years as a maintenance supervisor in nursing homes. He met Michelle Tyler in 1989, and they were married in 2003. Together they raised their two sons.
John enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also loved to travel, go camping and fishing, ride motorcycles and go four-wheeling, occasionally pay visits to the casino and listen to the music of Lynyrd Skynyrd. John had an amazing sense of humor, loved to laugh and was of the Baptist faith.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Freda Higdon; siblings, Sheila Hatton, Jimmie Ray Higdon, Clary Higdon and Linda Jo Higdon; uncle, Tommy Higdon; and aunt, Mildred Higdon.
Survivors include his wife, Shelly; sons, Brandon Higdon and wife, Jacquelyn, Cole Higdon and wife, Faye; grandchildren, Gavin, Grant, Gunner, Kaylee, Brayden; brother-in-law, Thomas Tyler; sisters-in-law, Kandi Allman, Yvette Largent; siblings, Mary Ann Moore, Cecil Higdon, Jamie Higdon; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
