Services for Jim Carter, 77, of Union Valley are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Dan Megehee and Lonnie Manuel will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Carter passed away Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 19, 1940, in Tyler, Texas. He graduated from Tyler High School and attended East Central University.
He married Marcia Tucker Sept. 24, 1965. Mr. Carter was a brick mason until his retirement. He was a charter member of Cross Cut Cowboy Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia of the home; two sons, Jimmy Carter of Union Valley and his children, Laura Brooke, Andy and Braden Carter and Keith Carter of Canadian and his children, Ryan and Kelsey Carter; a daughter, Jeni Carter of Ada and her children, Carter Blankenship and her husband, Colton, and Cameron Lehman; and two brothers, Charlie Carter and his wife, Karen, and Johnny Carter and his wife, Debbie, all of Ada.
Bearers will be his nephews, Don Tucker, Bobby Tucker, Chris Tucker and J. L. Carter; a grandson, Colton Blankenship; and a cousin, Greg Carter.
