James 'Jim''s Story
James Stanfield Grant peacefully left this world to be present with the Lord on Jan. 7, 2018, surrounded by loving family in Mustang.
Jim was born in 1930 to Samuel K. Grant and Polly Stanfield Grant in Ada. He graduated from Ada High School in 1948, where he excelled in track. He later, literally, "saw the world" as a computer operator for gunnery control aboard the USS Pittsburgh CA72.
After his time in service, he realized his love for art and received a BA in art from East Central State University. Jim was a freelance artist for many years and also worked in architecture and later as a technical illustrator for Boeing Aircraft Corp. He later became a senior graphics designer for General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin.
Jim was known for his keen mind, attention to detail and love for family. He was a member of the Church of Christ, being baptized by his sons.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Polly Grant, and two sisters, Marjorie Hopkins and Sammy Bowen.
He is survived by his wife, Elwanda, of the home; two sons, Kevin Grant and wife, Judy, of Yukon, and Kyle Grant and wife, Kim, of Yukon; grandchildren Haley, Terry, Katy, Thomas, Carson and Cohen; two great-grandchildren, Coryell and Anson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends whom he loved dearly.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home in Ada, with Van Newton officiating. Interment will be at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada.
