Jackie Ray "Jack" Whomble, age 76, of Broken Arrow (formerly of Ada) passed away on Saturday morning, Sept. 2, 2017, at Coweta Manor Nursing Home in Coweta.
Jack was born Jan. 30, 1941, to Othel Obrie and Mildred (Whitaker) Whomble in Morris.
He was a 1959 graduate of Liberty High School near Morris. Jack then attended East Central University in Ada, where he received his bachelor's degree in accounting.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. Jack enlisted in the Air Force on Dec. 13, 1961, and was honorably discharged on Oct. 11, 1965. He was an accountant and owned and operated Jackie R. Whomble, CPA, for over 50 years in Ada.
Jack and Kay (Dixon) Whomble were married on May 28, 2015, at Liberty Baptist Church.
In the early years of his life, he enjoyed playing baseball and basketball in school. He also enjoyed watching horse races.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Othel Obrie and Mildred Whomble.
Jack is survived by his wife, Kay Whomble of the home in Broken Arrow; one brother, Danny Whomble of Tulsa; two sisters, Barbara Lawson of Coweta and Sandy Whomble of Okmulgee; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Viewing was from 2-7 p.m. today at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home. Services celebrating Jack's life will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Liberty Baptist Church in Morris, with Pastor Jeff Ward officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Liberty Cemetery. Pallbearers are Don Spurgeon, Tommy Lawson, Richard Walters, Vernon Yocham, Harrel Harbin, Mark Palmer and Jerry Few.
