Services for Ira Little Jr. 98, of Ada are at 1 p.m. Monday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Rusty Fuller and the Rev. David Gray will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery at Purcell. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
Mr. Little passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, at a local hospital. He was born Feb. 19, 1919, at Wayne to Ira Little Sr. and Lena Parker Little.
He attended Wayne Grade School and graduated from Wayne High School. He graduated from East Central University with a bachelor's degree in education and later obtained a master's degree in education from the University of Oklahoma.
He married Jewel Aline Butler on Dec. 27, 1944, in Oklahoma City. The family moved to Ada from Moore in 1980.
Mr. Little was an educator. He was a longtime teacher and principal, serving early on in the rural communities of Criner and Parks and later in Modesto, California; Tulsa; Okmulgee; and Moore.
He was a Baptist and a longtime member and deacon of Trinity Baptist Church in Ada.
Mr. Little was a member of the Retired Oklahoma Educators and had served during World War II as a first lieutenant. During his four years of service, Ira served 18 months on Attu Island, Alaska.
Survivors include his wife, Jewel Aline, of the home; a son and his wife, Ira Little III and Linda Sue Little; two granddaughters and spouses, Julie and Jason Duran and Melanie and Des Smith; four great-grandchildren, Olivia, Noah, Hannah and Emma Duran.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, J.W., Joe and Laurence Little; and two sisters, Ola Wyatt and Ollie Helms.
Bearers will be Des Smith, Jason Duran, Noah Duran, Ronnie Little, Randy Little and Roland Little.
