Gwneth "Gwen" was born March 19, 1936, in Seminole County between Sasakwa and Konawa at the family home to Otha Thomas Barrett and Vita Mary (Beauchamp) Barrett. She grew up and graduated from Vamoosa High School.
She married Frank Brewer on Dec. 4, 1956, in Konawa. Early in her marriage, Gwen was a successful hairdresser and later worked as a school librarian. However, most of her life was devoted to being a homemaker and providing for her large family and the many visitors who shared their table. The Brewer home was always busy with the family, friends, foster children and the occasional wayward child or passing stranger. No one left hungry. She was an excellent cook. Her family favorites included "mock tacos" and chocolate gravy.
She and Frank served several churches of Christ over their 61 years of marriage, including Asher, Bokchita, Caddo, Fitztown, Coalgate, Tupelo and Maud. She was a faithful helper to Frank in his ministry.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Frank Brewer of the home; three sons, David Brewer and wife, Stephanie, of Newalla, Kenneth Brewer of Seminole and Mark Brewer of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Zina Siemer and husband, Michael, of Edmond and Angelia Klaproth of Fontana, California; three brothers, Glen Barrett and wife, Janet, of Ada, Bob Barrett and wife, Belle, of Ada and Ricky Barrett and wife, Barbara, of Sasakwa; two sisters, Linda Wood of Konawa and Nancy Riggle and husband, Bill, of Konawa; 12 grandchildren, Elizabeth Mullins and husband, Josh, Luke Brewer and wife, Samantha, Jacob Brewer and wife, Krystin, Justin Brewer, Alyxandra Siemer, Kendra Brewer, Andrew Siemer, Marshal Brewer, Tony Mayn, Tyler Mayn, Hailey Klaproth and an honorary granddaughter, Yui Takahashi; great-grandchildren Corban, Landice and Hayden Mullins, Daniel, Abigael, Isaac and Asher Brewer, Natalie and Elliott Brewer, and Isaiah Mayn; foster children, Gary Davis and Linda Grant.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otha and Vita Barrett, and grandsons, David Ryan Brewer and Dalton Mayn.
Condolences may be sent to Frank by email at f-brewer@sbcglobal.net or to Frank Brewer, PO Box 501, Maud, OK 74854. Memorials may be made in Gwen's name to Lilyfield Christian Adoption & Foster Care, 501 E. 15th St. Suite 400A, Edmond, OK 73013.
