Services for Gertraude Meta "Trudy" Boland, 88, of Tupelo are at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Tupelo Baptist Church. The Rev. Craig Cochran will officiate. Burial will follow at the Centrahoma Cemetery.
Mrs. Boland passed away Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, at a Guthrie nursing home.
She was born Dec. 6, 1928, at Berlin, Germany, to Alfred Pohl and Gertrude Stein. She attended school in Germany, lived on multiple Army posts and moved to Tupelo in 1970 and to West Point, Nebraska, in 2008.
She married the Rev. W.B. "Dub" Boland on June 18, 1982. He preceded her in death Sept. 15, 2001.
Mrs. Boland retired from the Tupelo School System after 11 years of service. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Ada and a lifetime member of the Oklahoma Education Association and the National Education Association.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel Hughes (Jlynn) of West Point, Nebraska, and Patrick Hughes (Peggy) of Guthrie; a daughter, The Honorable Rena Hughes of Las Vegas; six grandchildren, Angela, Annalise, Arielle, Aaron, Hayley and Allison; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a granddaughter, Abigail Hughes; and a sister, Erika Pistor.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Hughes, Patrick Hughes, Aaron Hughes, Josh King, Robert Palmer and Ray Norfleet.
