Freeman's Story

Text size

Freeman Roberts, age 83 of Ada, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017, at the Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Freeman Dwight Roberts was born Oct. 30, 1933, in McClain County, one of five children born to John Freeman and Thelma Irene (Crow) Roberts. His family moved some, following work, but Freeman was raised in McClain County and attended school in Wayne.
Freeman answered the call to service, and joined the United States Air Force. For the next 22 years, he served his country proudly, retiring at TSGT in 1972.
Freeman was somewhat of an entrepreneur, and always willing to take risks. He dabbled in a lot of things. Freeman loved farming and raised chickens and pigs. He was a whiz with small electronics and owned and operated his own TV repair shop. He installed satellites and was always ready for his next move.
When not working, he enjoyed tending to his garden, and he never missed an opportunity to go fishing. Freeman loved life and was a great encourager to many. He cherished his family and will be dearly missed!
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Freeman and Thelma Roberts, and his brother, Keith Roberts.
Freeman leaves behind his wife, Marilyn, of the home; children John Henry Roberts and Misty Rose Roberts, both of Ada, and Terry Roberts and Chrystal Moore of California; his sister, Yvonne Duncan and husband, Ray, of Oklahoma City; two brothers, James Roberts and wife, Joann, of House Springs, Missouri, and Donald Roberts and wife, Johnette, of Virginia; three grandchildren, Shawn Roberts and wife, Bailey, of Konawa, Suzanne Smith and husband, Rick, of Ada and Kimberly Loch and her children of Konawa; four great-grandchildren, Colby Roberts and Preston, Peyton and Madison Smith; a special nephew and a cousin, Freeman Roberts of Purcell and Bill Roberts and wife, Arlene, of Mineola, Texas; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services took place Saturday at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with full military honors followed at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
