Erma Jean Pennanen, 83, of Ada died peacefully in her home Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017.
She was born Nov. 3, 1933, in Crawford to Fred and Lectra Forman. She was the oldest of three children.
She graduated from Taloga High School, then attended college at Oklahoma State University, where she took business classes. She married Richard Pennanen, and they had two children, Janet and Ross Pennanen.
They made their home in California, where they raised cows, and eventually moved back to Oklahoma to live closer to her parents.
Erma loved animals, especially her little dog named Sugar. She always made sure that the birds were fed. She loved to cook and bake and try new recipes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Willard Forman; and her son, Ross Pennanen.
Survivers include her daughter, Janet, and grandsons Stephen and Gage Pennanen; her sister, Freda Horn; and niece Debbie Hallum and nephew Steve Horn. Erma had four great-grandchildren Austin, Savannah, Victoria and baby Ross Pennanen and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by everyone.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home in Oklahoma City.
