Elva Faye Martin, 93, a resident of Sulphur, was born Sept. 4, 1923, in Ada to the Rev. Alvah W. and Minnie Faye (Cooper) Oliver. She passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, in Sulphur.
She married Barclay P. Martin Sept. 4, 1942, in Ada. She grew up in Ada, graduated from Ada High School in 1941 and attended East Central University.
Elva worked as a secretary for Barclay.
She was a member of Sulphur United Methodist Church and was an active member of the United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant son, Jerry Lynn Martin; her brother, Alva Lee Oliver; and her sister, Joy Massengale.
She is survived by her husband, Barclay Martin of Sulphur; her sons and daughters-in-law, Barclay Martin Jr. and Wynema of Oklahoma City and
Edward B. Martin and Elaine of Bel Air, Maryland;
eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Sulphur United Methodist Church. The Rev. P.J. Stewart and Pastor Blake Martin will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada.
Pallbearers will be Mike Martin, Steve Martin, Blake Martin, Cole Martin, Ed Martin and Barclay Martin Jr.
Honorary Bearers will be Brian Hollis, Wes Harden, Bob Drake and members of Sulphur United Methodist Church.
