Services for Elmer Glenn Love, 80, of Ada are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Baptist Church. Dr. Rusty Fuller and the Revs. David Gray and Don Sayre will officiate. Burial will follow at the Maxwell Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Love passed away Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at a Shawnee hospital. He was born Jan. 8, 1936, in St. Louis to Elmer Perry and Marguerite Farrington Love. He attended Worstell, Summers Chapel and Vanoss schools and graduated from Ada High School.
Upon his retirement from the U.S. Air Force, he received his degree in business from East Central University. He was a retired tech sergeant, after having served more than 20 years on active duty.
He married Virginia Bailey June 18, 1955, in Collinsville, Illinois. Mr. Love was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 18 in Sulphur, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1202, of Ada, and American Legion Post 191, of Stratford. He was a perpetual member of the Ada Masonic Lodge 119 and Pontotoc Lodge 136, and the Valley of McAlester Scottish Rite, where he obtained the highest rank of 33 degree Mason. He was a member of the Shawnee, Chapter 32, Royal Arch Masons, Shawnee Council 26 and Shawnee Commandery 36 of the York Rite bodies. He was a member of the Red Cross of Constantine, St. Luke Conclave of McAlester and a member of the Knights of the York Cross of Honour and a chapter emeritus member of the Knights of St. Andrew. He was also a member of Shriners of North America of India Temple of Oklahoma City, and past commander of McAlester Council of KADOSH.
Glenn was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Ada. His ministry was being a volunteer at Jan Francis Care Center, working with the activity department for more than 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia of the home; his son, Glenn Love Jr. of Ada; his daughter, Lou Anne Love of West Palm Beach, Florida; three grandchildren, Shannon Goble and her husband, Tim, of Gulfport, Mississippi, Derek Love of Biloxi, Mississippi, and Travis Love of Biloxi; three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Mason and Colton Gobble, of Gulfport; two brothers, Harold Love of Ada and George Love and his wife, Martha, of Oil Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bearers will be the members of the Ada and Pontotoc Masonic Lodges. Honorary bearers will be members of the Fellowship Sunday School class of Trinity Baptist Church.
