Eddie Lee Shelton, 52, passed away Jan. 12, 2018, in Oklahoma City. Eddie was born March 14, 1965, in Clinton to Joe Ruin and Janie Louise (Miller) Shelton.
Eddie served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army. Belonging to the Choctaw Nation gave him great pride. Eddie graduated from N.W. Technical Institute in 1998 with an industrial maintenance technology degree. He worked for Newlyweds Foods as an industrial maintenance technician, with duties such as boiler operator, welder and many other duties. He was licensed in HVAC, welding and forklift operations. Eddie was known as an auto mechanic and a true outdoorsman, enjoying canoeing, camping and fishing. He also enjoyed playing and listening to music.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Geri Lynn Weston Shelton of Garfield, Arkansas; a son, Tyler Lee Shelton of the home; a brother, Jerry Lynn Shelton of Fittstown; a sister-in-law, Stephanie and Matt Clark of Rogers, Arkansas; a brother-in-law, Jimmie Weston of Bentonville, Arkansas; five nieces, Marina Laine Clark Ingram and Dameron, both of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Taylor Katherine Weston of Lebanon, Maine, Brandy Dawn and Sharron Marie Shelton of Lawton and Allie Furness of Oklahoma City; a great-nephew, Kingston Miles D. Ingram of Fayetteville; a great-niece, Mackinze Shelton of Lawton; and a host of longtime friends, neighbors and close family.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Joe Dewey Shelton.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Smith-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel. David Boggs will officiate. Family visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Smith-Phillips Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Stonewall.
Friends and family are invited to gather at the Tupelo Community Center for a memorial following the graveside service for Janie and Eddie Shelton.
