Doug Belt of Stratford was born March 22, 1953, in Hickory to Oscar and Annie (Jackson) Belt. He passed away Nov. 27, 2017, in Purcell at the age of 84 years, eight months and five days.
After graduation from Fitzhugh high school, he was drafted into the Army and served our country during the Korean conflict.
He married his sweetheart of 65 years, Phyllis Stewart, on Feb. 7, 1953, in Fitzhugh.
He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and was a rancher on their farm south of Stratford.
They raised their family and were faithful members of the First Baptist Church, where Doug became a deacon in January 1967.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth.
Survived by his wife, Phyllis, of Purcell; two daughters, Donna Rhynes and husband, Kenny, of Ada, and Rhonda Savage and husband, Mike, of Purcell; three sisters, Thelma Buckmaster of Moore, Dean Hall of Ada and Dorothy Hawk of Moore; six grandchildren, Leah Perkins and husband, Steve, Newcastle, Adam Savage and wife, Suni, Ardmore, Trey Rhynes and wife, Ashley, Amanda Sena and husband, Travis, all of Oklahoma City, Stephanie Rhynes of Salt Lake City and Elizabeth Townley and husband, Darren, of Tuttle; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at DeArman/Pickard Funeral Home, Stratford.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lightning Ridge Cemetery, Roff, with the Revs. Keith Stevens and son-in-law Mike Savage officiating.
