Doris Helen (Potts) Payne-Layn was born March 2, 1926, in Caney. Her parents were John Seaburn and Ida Blanche Potts.
She went to be went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Dec. 22, 2017, in Oklahoma City at the age of 91.
She attended Post Oak School and graduated from Caney High School. She married Jack Payne on Nov. 9, 1946. They owned and operated The Specialty Shop and Classic Creations in Ada.
She continued operating the clothing stores after his death on May 19, 1988, until her retirement in 1995. She later married Truman Layn, who preceded her in death in November 2011.
Doris is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Janet and Richard Wood of Oklahoma City, and Teresa and Charles Browning of Norman. She is also survived by grandchildren Tyler Watkins and his wife, Brandi; Lauren Browder and her husband, Phil; Evan Browning; Carter Browning and his wife, Kiley; and Rebecca Bryan and her husband, Patrick. She is survived by great-grandchildren Claire Browder and Gus, Cormac, Cadel and Maggie Bryan.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, John S. and Ida Potts, and siblings John Seaburn, Fred, Jim, John, Marie, Belle, Ruth and Oleta.
Graveside services were Dec. 27 in Caddo. Grandsons Tyler Watkins, Evan Browning, Carter Browning and Phil Browder served as pallbearers. Don Hankey officiated.
