Donald Ray Dopson entered Earth Sept. 3, 1957, born to Betty and Reed Dopson in Ada. He departed this planet Oct. 22, 2016, to a heavenly abode.
He is survived by his siblings, Ronald Dopson and his wife, Lawana, Elizabeth Massey and her husband, David, Peggy Lewis and her husband, Bryan, Rebecca Dorris, Rebecca (Becky) Bicknell and her husband, David, Deborah Graves, Rhonda Frost and her husband, Bill, and Timothy Dopson and his wife, Tammy.
His nieces and nephews were his pride and joy, Caralynne Coon and her husband, David, John Young, Joseph Culbertson, Jennifer Dopson West, Thomas Dopson, Tammy Brooks Gore and her husband Chris, Amanda Griffin, Aubrey Dopson, Shannon Dopson, Shawn Dopson, Justin Lewis, Clint Dorris, Josh Dorris and Heather Frost Stevenson.
He is survived by one uncle, Hugh (Pete) Odom, numerous great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, and 19 great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty Motley Bentley and Reed Dopson; his stepmother Nan Dopson; his stepfathers, John Gregory, W.C. Motley and Richard Bentley; and his grandparents.
One of his favorite jobs was running the projector at the McSwain Theatre in Ada. He proudly served his country as an Army combat medic and was stationed several places, including Oklahoma, Texas and Germany.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Central Church of Christ. Minister Ed Poblete will officiate. Honorary pallbearers are Joseph Culbertson, John Young, J.J. Odom and Chris Gore.
In lieu of flowers, an account has been set up at Citizen's Bank of Ada to help defray costs. Any donations would be greatly appreciated by the family.
