Darrell W. Briscoe of Bryan, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 14, 2016.
Born Aug. 25, 1942, in Durant to Lucille and Henry Briscoe, he lived most of his young life in Ada. He was a graduate of Ada High School and received his Bachelor of Arts in Education from East Central University.
He owned and operated Briscoe's Farm Fresh Garden Center in Ada for many years before moving to Houston, where he worked as an insurance adjuster and investigator and became a partner with Abercrombie, Simmons and Gillette. He also managed the partnership's Beaumont, Texas, office for seven years. During their time in Beaumont, Darrell and his wife, Rodonnah, met their dear friends, Ed and Susan Gallier.
In 1998, Darrell and Rodonnah, moved to Henderson, Nevada, where he was employed by Binion's Casino. He retired from WinCo Foods in 2015 and moved back to Texas during the first part of 2016 to be near family.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Rodonnah Briscoe; two children, Kim Bridges of Cypress, Texas, and Bill Briscoe of Aurora, Colorado; a stepdaughter, Vannessa Burson and her husband, Rusty, of College Station, Texas; two sisters, Donna Reynolds and her husband, Dave, of Mustang and Judy Woodroof and her husband, Steve, of Irvine, California; and two sisters-in-law, Diann Flickinger of Sour Lake, Texas, and Candace Gonzales of Rogers, Arkansas. He had seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was a member of Oasis Baptist Church in Henderson and became a regular attendee of Central Baptist Church and the LifeBuilders Sunday school class in Bryan, Texas. His favorite pastimes were playing golf and watching football, and his passion was landscaping and yard work.
